Letter from Bill Howard
Dear Friend,
My father’s battle with Alzheimer’s disease taught me that memories are among our greatest treasures. Alzheimer’s disease is a treacherous thief who sneaks in slowly and quietly and begins robbing its victim of precious treasures until the memories are depleted. The whole family suffers the heartbreaking loss.
When my father died, I made a pledge to the Alzheimer’s Association Central and Western Virginia Chapter that I would work to help them carry out their commitment to other families battling this terrible disease. Thursday, May 6, 2010 represents the twelvth year that the Annual Bill Howard Golf Tournament is held at the Birdwood Golf Course. A gala dinner, silent auction and entertainment follow on the evening of Friday, May 7, 2010 at the Boar's Head Inn Pavilion.
I urge you to stand with me in this ongoing battle. Every golf team and sponsorship dollar from the 12th Annual Bill Howard Golf Tournament and Gala brings us one step closer to a cure. And the funds raised will also help provide local support, education and programs for those living with the disease, their families, and caregivers in the greater Charlottesville region.
Currently, more than five million people are living with Alzheimer’s and 78 million baby boomers are approaching the age of greatest risk for the disease. 42,000 people in Central & Western Virginia alone are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s right now.
You know my story and my commitment, so now I ask you: What are you able to do in 2010?
I appreciate any support you can provide. But, more importantly, our friends and neighbors who are being robbed of precious memories will appreciate us both for stepping up to help them.
Please review the 2010 sponsorship menu. The menu can be found by clicking on the sponsorship link to the left in the tool bar. Or sign up your team today by clicking the regsistration button above.
If you have further questions call the Alzheimer's Association and ask for Lisa Ferrari at 434-973-6122 extension 109 or email her at lisa.ferrari@alz.org
Sincerely,
Bill Howard
