The Geico Tunnel Run/Walk is hosted by the Maryland Transportation Authority in support of Special Olympics Maryland. It is an out and back course in which participants run through Bore 4 of the Fort Mchenry Tunnel in Baltimore Maryland.
*Note: The race course is closed to bikes, animals & skaters. Water will be provided on course and at the finish line.*

Race Course: The 5k run/walk is an out and back loop which starts and ends at the east side of the tunnel, Bore 4. Click here for a map.
Running the Tunnel:
Yes, it is healthy and safe to run/walk the tunnel! The northbound tube of the tunnel is cleaned and the roadway is degreased prior to the event. The tunnel is ventilated constantly and no vehicles are allowed in the tunnel until after the event is over.
