Oct. 4, 2015 | Canal Park, Akron | Walk & Family Fun Zone
Just as the tiniest babies are settling into their new private rooms in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Akron Children’s Hospital’s Kay Jewelers Pavilion, we are making some big changes for the 9th annual Walk for Babies.
We are happy to announce the 2015 event will be at Canal Park (home of the Akron Rubber Ducks, 300 S. Main St. in downtown Akron) on Sun., Oct. 4. This move will improve the parking situation, and the long registration lines we’ve had over the past couple of years.
The gates will open for registration at 9 a.m. Our fun, non-competitive walk will begin at 10 a.m. And there will be activities, games, entertainment and snacks for kids of all ages from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Register online and begin your fundraising now. As always, 100% of the money that your team raises will be donated to the NICU!

News from 2014
The 8th annual walk was the biggest yet with 124 team captains who organized 1,692 walkers. Together we raised $104,877! This brings the 8-year total raised for the NICU to almost $600,000.
We are always humbled to hear the great things that are happening in the NICU, and Alexis Host and Nick Pryor shared the story of their twin girls Charlee and Lennix who were born at 24 weeks and 1 day gestation.
Neonatologist Dr. Jen Grow shared some honest, true comments about caring for our babies. It really shows how passionate she is about the work she does.
Akron Children’s President and CEO Bill Considine had a wonderful speech as he has every year. It is nice to have so much support from all levels of the hospital.
The raffle was well organized and full of great items, so big thanks goes to local companies and private donors for their generous contributions.
So many other local companies helped us feed our whole crowd for less than $1,000. Clearly, there is a lot of support for Walk for Babies and Akron Children’s Hospital in northeast Ohio!
We encourage you to share your child’s story, and post your pictures on our Facebook page.
