Walk a Mile in Her Shoes
Riverfest USA, Riverside Park
|July 3rd was an amazing day! |
More than 200 walkers joined the Riverfest Commodores and First Mates at Riverside Park for Walk a Mile in Her Shoes. Encouraged by “Sole Sisters” every step of the way, men from all walks of life - students, businessmen, law enforcement officials and many others - marched along the one-mile course while wearing high-heeled shoes. Final accounting is currently underway, but we can tell you that more than $30,000 was raised!
This event would never happen, or be so successful, but for the support and confidence we have received from our sponsors, walkers, volunteers and donors. Your involvement in this fun and provocative event is most appreciated. Together, you helped raise resources and awareness for issues that are anything but funny; ending violence against women and supporting survivors of domestic violence.
We look forward to an even stronger showing in 2015. With your continued support, Walk a Mile in her Shoes can look to increase the number of walkers and funds raised. This walk is humorous, it’s true, but its purpose is serious as can be, as it demonstrates that men and women can work together to break the cycle of domestic violence.
Thank you for being part of it, and please, take a moment to enjoy the photos from this year’s event.
