2014 Wichita Walk to Cure Arthritis

Thursday, May 8, NewMarket Square, 6 pm

Online registration is closed
Registration will open at the event starting at 5:00pm

The Walk to Cure Arthritis raises funds and awareness to fight the nation's leading cause of disability. We aren't just helping the millions of people who live with arthritis pain, we're funding research that's getting us closer to a cure.

The event features a walk course, with arthritis information and activities for the entire family. Pet owners are encouraged to bring their dogs.

Let's raise funds to find a cure for arthritis, then come together to support each other and walk!

For more information on how to qualify for our 2014 Walk to Cure Arthritis fundraising incentives, please contact your Walk to Cure Arthritis event director listed below.

Meet Our Youth Honoree
Charley Katherine Wilkens

This is a story of true girl power! Charley went from a little girl that could hardly walk around the school, to being the captain of the cheer squad for the school! While she is finishing up for high school years, her experience with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA) has influenced her to become a nurse.

Meet Our Medical Honoree
Dr. Shirley Wang

Dr. Shirley Wang jokes that she has no special interests or hobbies. Truth be told, her hobby is extremely special. “Being able to take care of patients,” she says, “is the best hobby of all.” Dr. Wang – a rheumatologist at Arthritis and Rheumatology Clinics of Kansas in Wichita – immigrated to the state of Kansas at age 16 and has been here ever since. She treats women with rheumatic diseases who are pregnant, and some of her other specialties include systemic sclerosis, lupus, juvenile arthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Dr. Wang is married with two young boys, and her family has been active with the Arthritis Foundation for many years. For these reasons and more, Dr. Wang is our Medical Honoree for this year’s Walk to Cure Arthritis.
