Meet Our Youth Honoree
Mya is 11 years old and has a smile that can light up a room. This talented soccer player holds the position of goal keeper for the Fort Wayne United Soccer Club. A goal keeper has to be mentally tough, strong in the air and not afraid to get hurt. A major challenge for any player, and especially courageous for Mya who was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA) in 2007.Read Mya's Story
Meet Our Medical Honoree
Dr. Shannon Nierman
Dr. Shannon Nierman is a chiropractor that is also board certified and licensed in acupuncture. He was born in Fort Wayne, and grew up in Kendallville where he attended East Noble High School. Dr. Nierman attended IPFW before relocating to Houston, Texas. He has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in human biology and received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Texas Chiropractic College in December, 2009. He is a veteran of the U.S. Navy who served on active duty from 1990-1995, and then transferred to the U.S. Army National Guard from 1997-2001. He was a deep sea diver in the U.S. Navy before becoming a member of the guard unit in Angola, and then transferring to the Fort Wayne unit to be a recon/sniper team member.Read Dr. Nierman's Story
