Team Spotlight: Farmers Claim Team

Team AnnaPlease meet Lara Fitter (pictured in red in the middle of the photo) who was diagnosed Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis when she was 11.

When I was 11, what I thought to be normal aches and pains grew into unbearable swelling in my toe and inability to move my shoulder. Within weeks, I was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. It seemed from that moment, things quickly went downhill.

It took a few years, but I finally found the right combination of medication in order to control my disease. It allowed me the chance to feel normal and attend college. There I sought out the support of my sorority sisters in AOII who support
Arthritis Research. That is when I began to get involved in the Arthritis Walk and Arthritis Research.

After college, I began my career at Farmers Insurance. I’m lucky to have a great group of colleagues who are heavily involved in the community. They have supported me through 3 surgeries including 2 shoulder replacements. Now they support my continued efforts to increase awareness and hopefully one day find a cure for those who suffer like me. I have hope for a new future as I look forward to getting married this August to my best friend and start a family of my own.

You can support Lara and the Farmers Claim Team here.

Thank you for participating in the 2013 Oklahoma City Arthritis Walk, the signature fundraising event for the Arthritis Foundation. Every year, people across the country move together to celebrate those who are making a positive impact on the lives of people living with arthritis.

More than just an event, Arthritis Walk is a celebration of year-round movement. It is building awareness for this debilitating disease and raising necessary funds to drive arthritis research, education and life improvement programs; it also continues the Arthritis Foundation’s search to find a cure to the nation’s leading cause of disability.

Raise $100 or more and receive the Arthritis Walk T-shirt and FREE Admission to Frontier City on Walk Day!
