On Sunday, September 9th Halifax Health- Hospice will celebrate the spirit of caregiving with the 11th Annual 5k/10K Run and Walk at City Center Complex in Port Orange. This much anticipated event raises funds for the Family Caregiver Program, which provides one-on-one care for patients and entitles caregivers to much needed respite time.

As the first race in the Daytona Area Grand Prix series , this event brings out all of the area's top competitive runners. Though runners will be timed for placing and to receive points in the Grand Prix, the event also offers an opportunity for non-runners and families to participate through the 5k walk and ¼ mile Kiddie Dash. Additionally, this year there will be fun incentives for fundraising for the Family Caregiver Program such as drawings for caregiver spa baskets.

At Halifax Health - Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, we believe a person’s life should be cherished and celebrated. We have cared for patients in Volusia and Flagler counties for over 30 years and become the established not-for-profit leader in providing hospice services in this community. Today we continue this mission, enabling our patients and their families to make the most out of every moment, even at the end-of-life.

The proceeds from this annual event provide respite care to the caregivers of our patients. We have witnessed ordinary people perform extraordinary acts of kindness and compassion for those at life’s end. After all these years, we are still moved by the dedication and sacrifices family members give to their loved ones as they face the end-of-life’s journey.
