Set Your Personal Fundraising Goal
Every Miracle Maker is committed to raising at least $500 for Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego. You can use that amount for your personal fundraising goal or choose a higher amount - $1,000, $2,000 or more. You may have never raised that much money before, but rest assured that the staff at Rady Children's Hospital Foundation will be there to help you. So set a personal fundraising goal that would be a truly big accomplishment for you.
Develop a List of Potential Donors
Make a list of everyone you can think of - family and friends, colleagues and associates. You can include everybody you do business with, like your hairdresser and auto mechanic, and everyone you talk to at your church or your children's school. Don't censor your list. Let everyone know what you're doing. The campaign is low-key and no one will feel pressured to support you. You're not selling anything. You're just asking them to help you raise money for a worthy cause.
Create Your Personal Page
Your personal page can include your story and photos and whatever else you would like. When donors go to your page, they can read about your fundraising efforts and donate right there online. Please encourage all of your donors to use the online system - it saves time and money, and your donations will be credited to your account immediately. Your personal page also automatically tracks your fundraising balance, so you and your donors can watch your progress.
Here's how to set up your personal page:
1. Log in to the website using the user name and password you selected when you registered.
2. Personalize your page by changing the text message or adding photos.
3. Now that you've set up your page, click on Send Emails to Friends and Family.
4. Enter the email addresses of your potential donors.
5. Compose your email, or use our template.
6. The email will contain a link to your personal page, where your donors can donate online safely and securely.
7. You can also view donation reports from your personal page or send out thank you emails.
Don't Forget Snail Mail
Some of your potential donors may not have email or you may not know their email addresses. In that case, it's fine to send them a letter via regular mail. However, if they donate by mail instead of online, it will take longer to process the payments and get your fundraising balance updated on your personal page.
Encourage Donors to Forward Your Request
Ask your donors to forward your email on to their own family and friends, colleagues and associates. Your donors can also choose to become Miracle Makers themselves by following the same steps you did. Please encourage them to do so!
If you don't receive a response from your request, be sure to follow up. Make a phone call or send a quick note to make sure that they haven't forgotten. Keep your donors and potential donors informed of your fundraising progress.
Say Thank You
Be sure to send a thank you message to each and every supporter to let them know that his or her contribution - whatever the amount - is important to you. Here's a sample letter you can use:
Thank you so much for supporting my efforts to raise funds for Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego. I am grateful that you recognize how much the kids at Rady Children's need our help.
So far I've raised $400 - only $100 more until I reach my personal goal!
Without your generosity, this would not have been possible.
