"Friends Forever Stick Together" Bake Sale
Upon learning that their best friend's father was diagnosed with lymphoma, five fifth graders decided to raise funds for LRF through a bake sale and raised $348! The girls were presented with an LRF Certificate of Appreciation at a school assembly during which they received a big surprise. Parents were so touched by the girls' efforts that they decided to match their $348. The girls also received two matching gift from the Home Depot and HD Supply raising their total donation to $2,708! Click here to see the video of the school assembly.
Laps for Lymphoma
Grassfield High School has been touched by lymphoma and is dedicated to finding a cure. Since 2010, the Grassfield High School Student Council Association has hosted an annual walk-a-thon to raise funds and awareness for lymphoma. Each year, they walk a distance of 1 foot to honor each life lost to lymphoma. In 2014, more than 800 participants walked over 4 miles in remembrance of those lives that were lost. In five years, the students of Grassfield High School, and the community of Chesapeake, VA have raised over $70,000. Here is their story. Laps for Lymphoma.
First Annual "Phil"anthropy
The First Annual "Phil"anthropy event, held on Saturday, September 14 at the Max Canada in Athens, Georgia raised more than $27,000 to support the Lymphoma Research Foundation! Friends and family came out to celebrate the life of Phil McGill and to further his legacy by raising money to help the fight against lymphoma. The celebration included food, drinks, live music, raffles, prizes, a logo-drawing contest, and much more. We would like to thank the "Phil"anthropy team for raising funds for #lymphoma and LRF, and congrats on such a successful first event! Running the NYC Marathon
On Sunday, November 3, Fonny Schenck, CEO of Across Health, ran in the 2013 ING New York City Marathon while also raising funds for lymphoma research and awareness for LRF. Fonny completed the marathon in 4:04:44 and raised $3,500! The Foundation congratulates Fonny on this incredible accomplishment, and we thank him for supporting our mission to find a cure.
The Reid Smith Challenge Grant
Reid Smith lost his battle with lymphoma in 2007. To honor his memory, his teammates and fraternity brothers from Brown University have created a challenge grant to raise money for lymphoma research. Tom Condon, Reid’s friend from Brown, has agreed to match all gifts made to the "Reid Smith Challenge Grant to Cure Lymphoma," up to $25,000. Rock to Cure Cancer
The 5th Annual Rock to Cure Cancer in honor of Joey Ramone benefit, held on September 20th, raised nearly $3,000 to support the Lymphoma Research Foundation, and has raised almost $9,000 since its inception. We would like to thank the Rock to Cure Cancer team and The Pool House in Bellmore, New York for raising funds for #lymphoma and supporting LRF's mission in this amazing event. Running the Chicago Marathon
On Sunday, October 13th, Renee Miller, President of LRF's Minnesota Chapter, competed in and completed the running of the Chicago Marathon. Renee took on this challenge with the intent to continue to honor her mother's memory and to help support LRF and its mission to eradicate lymphoma.
