Memory Ride Pre-Ride Events

Please visit this page frequently to receive details on the many events being held prior to the ride.  Attending events being held before the ride will give you the opportunity to socialize with fellow riders about training and fundraising.

FEBRUARY

Super Spin for a Cause
Boston Sports Club, Watertown, MA - February 1, 2009, 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m

Planning on indulging a little for the Superbowl?  Want to do it guilt-free?  Spin out before you pig out on Super Bowl Sunday.  Please join fellow riders and Run for the Memory participants as they spin for Alzheimer's.  On Sunday, February 1st from 11:00-12:00 certified spin instructor, John Campbell, will be leading an energy-packed spin class.  This class is open to friends and family looking to spin for a cause.  "Super Spin for a Cause" will be held at Boston Sports Club in Watertown.  A registration fee of $20 is required- all proceeds go to the Alzheimer's Association.  Seating is limited, so sign up early!  Contact Lori Coburn at 617-393-2047.

APRIL 

Better Bicycling Skills (4 hours, on-bike)
Mass Bike - April

The Better Bicycling Skills class is designed for adults who want to get back into bicycling, improve cycling skills, learn to ride more effectively and safely in traffic, and/or participate in a large-scale benefit ride. This half-day weekend session provides guided instruction with simple practice drills in a parking lot, easy-paced riding on local roadways for short distances, and group-discussion breaks along the way. Topics covered include bike and helmet fitting, starting and stopping your bike in traffic, shifting gears, scanning and yielding, choosing the correct lane position in the road, handling intersections, and more.  On bike classes run from 9am to 1pm

Prerequisite: A bicycle in good working order and a helmet are required.

MAY

Spin with Soxology
Bayshore Athletic Club - Braintree, MA

Kick up your training and the Red sox season with the Soxology Memory Ride team for a 60 or 120 minute spin class.  Saturday, May 9th, 11:00-12:00/1:00 p.m. Spin Instructors, Barbara Cichocki and Kauren Quatromoni, will be leading an energy-packed spin class.  This class is open to friends and family looking to join.  "Spin with Soxology" will be held at Bayshore Athletic Club in Braintree, MA.  Registration fee is $20 for the 60 minute class; and $25 for 120 minutes- all proceeds go the Alzheimer's Association.  Your registration will cover your class participation and a benefit drawing ticket for a chance to win a Soxology/Alzheimer's Association merchandise basket.  If you register for the 60 minute class please specify what hour you would like to participate, 11:00-12:00 a.m or 12:00-1:00 p.m. Seating is limited, so sign up early!  Contact Lori Coburn at 617.393.2047 or Lori.Coburn@alz.org

May is National Bike Month and Massachusetts is doing their part to celebrate this great even with Bay State Bike Week, May 11-17, 2009.  It's your chance to join thousands of other bikers across the country by doing something for the environment and having a great time while you're at it.  It's a win/win proposition.  Bay State Bike Week events will be taking place all across Massachusetts, make sure to check the Statewide Calendar of Events to find a fun event near you!

Memory Ride will be hosting a table at the following Mass Bike events:

JUNE

Memory Ride Runs on Dunkin'
Dunkin Donuts - Quincy, MA

Join us at Dunkin Donuts for fun and fund raising.  On Saturday, June 20th at the grand opening of Dunkin' Donuts at 195 Newport Avenue, Quincy, MA.  Take a break, support Alzheimer's. 

-  $1.00 from every iced coffee purchase will be donated to Memory Ride
-  Guest appearance by former New England Patriot Max Lane, 10am-12pm
-  Ski Market bike safety check, 8am-12pm
-  100.7 WZLX onsite appearance, 10am-12pm
-  Sign up to ride with the Soxology Team
-  Purple donuts, iced coffee and more!
