2018 Wish Ball Highlights

Special Guests

The family of Eli Adams

I wish to meet Dustin Pedroia at a Boston Red Sox game

During the program, guests had the pleasure of hearing from the dad and brother of wish kid Eli Adams as they shared highlights of his one-of-a-kind wish experience. Being a close family, the wish experience was deeply impactful on the entire family as well as Eli. During the program they also shared how Make-A-Wish supporters have been a source of joy in their lives.

Eli is a little kid with a big heart. Like many 12-year-old boys, he adores sports and feeling the rush of adrenaline that comes from athletic pursuits. Unfortunately battling lymphoblastic leukemia makes playing ball difficult. Leukemia stole the normalcy of his childhood for a long time. It’s hard to feel like an athlete in a hospital room, but during his treatments he was able to look forward to his wish. Eli wished to meet his favorite baseball player, Dustin Pedroia, at a Boston Red Sox game. On his wish he was able to meet Dustin, hear words of encouragement and explore the stadium with his family. He felt strong, normal and once again in control of his life. Eli's wish continues to give him a source of joy to focus on during his treatments. Memories from his wish keep him going and help provide renewed energy every day. View the video below to relive this special moment from The Wish Ball.

Mike Cipriani

SJC Drums

Mike is a co-owner of SJC Drums, a grassroots company building custom professional drumsets for some of today’s biggest rock ‘n roll bands. Mike became a Make-A-Wish advocate after helping grant a wish for Goose Creek wish kid, Jose. Jose wished for a professional drum set and Mike became personally invested in creating an incredible experience for Jose, hand-delivering the drum set from Massachusetts. At the Wish Ball, Mike happily shared his story with attendees and told how his life has been impacted by a wish.

Wish Kid, Macie Southern

I wish to meet Shania Twain

Macie proved she was brave after being born with a complex congenital heart disease. In 2004, Macie wished to meet country singer, Shania Twain. Her wish helped her to “think big” and pursue her dreams. Despite the challenges throughout her life, Macie has found strength in her own journey and dedicated herself to helping other children overcome their obstacles. Her passion is now working with special needs children and young adults. Macie joined us at the Wish Ball to share her story and we were honored to have her model a special live auction diamond pendant.

Kimberly Brenowitz

Animals Deserve Better

Kimberly is the founder of Animals Deserve Better, a nonprofit which trains and places service dogs with their forever homes. As a Master Dog Trainer, Kimberly’s experience has led her to match many service dogs with wish kids so that the dogs can aid the children in their battle with critical illnesses. Kimberly was a special guest at The Wish Ball, to help us grant Bristol's wish live onstage.

Wish Kid, Bristol

I wish to have a service dog

Adorable 3-year-old Bristol loves to play and jump. However, Bristol battles a nervous system disorder which makes playing more dangerous than for an average child. Always drawn to animals, Bristol’s wish is to have a service dog. Her wish will empower her to play, knowing that her dog will be able to alert her family if there is a concern. Make-A-Wish, together with our supporters, looks forward to granting her wish, so that Bristol will gain independence, mobility and find joy in her daily routines with a new furry companion.

LIVE WISH REVEAL

The program culminated in a live wish reveal for Bristol who received her service dog on-stage. Her great pyrenees /poodle mix will be trained over the next several years to help Bristol live a healthy and fulfilling life.
