The Wish-A-Mile® (WAM) Bicycle Tour, the single-largest fundraising event for Make-A-Wish® Michigan, started in 1987 with four friends who challenged each other to ride 300 miles from Canton to Mackinac. WAM has continued to grow from these humble beginnings into an amazing, heartwarming journey including more than 1,000 dedicated cyclists and volunteers.
Two route options are available - a three-day, 300-mile route, a one-day 50-mile option, and a half-mile kids' ride along with a host of volunteer opportunities. The WAM 300 tour starts with a travel day from lower Michigan up to Traverse City. From there, cyclists ride an estimated 100 miles each day for three days. The WAM 50 is a one-day looped ride that joins the 300 route for the last few miles. Both rides travel through a special designated area named the Silent Mile; to honor loved ones lost too soon but never forgotten. The WAM Jr. is a half-mile ride on the track at the Michigan International Speedway for kids ages 5-13.
