Email and Social Media Fundraising Tips

  • Share Your Story
The most effective way to fundraise is to tell others about your story. By sharing your strength and your reason for participating in Run for Her, you’ll motivate others to join the movement.
  • Include Facts
People are more likely to donate to something they understand. Support each request for donations with one/some of the facts below. You will also be educating your friends and family about ovarian cancer.
    • There is currently no effective screening test for ovarian cancer.
    • Ovarian cancer is the deadliest of all the women’s cancers.
    • When diagnosed early, the five-year survival rate is almost 95 percent but only 15 percent of ovarian cancer cases are diagnosed early.
    • The majority of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer only live up to five years after their diagnosis.
    • More than 230,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer worldwide each year, and approximately 140,000 women will die from the disease.
  • Share Your Link
Include a link to your personal fundraising Web page in every update.
  • Pat Yourself on the Back
Highlight fundraising milestones as you reach them and share regular updates about your training. Proudly share your badges as you earn them.
  • Show Your Appreciation
Tag/mention your donors in your posts and tweets that thank them for their donation. Also tag/mention those individuals who give you strength or motivation to participate.
  • Go the Extra Mile
When you get close to your goal, encourage your friends and family to help you reach and exceed it.
  • It Doesn’t Hurt to Ask...
Ask your friends to share your fundraising webpage with their friends. Then, ask your friends to share your social media posts.
