Run for Her® is going global!
Over the past 10 years, tens of thousands of people have participated in annual Run for Her® events, and the results have been nothing short of inspiring.
In fact, the event has been so successful, we’ve outgrown our venue. While we consider options for another in-person event for 2016, our fight against ovarian cancer continues.
Ovarian cancer doesn’t just impact one community; it is in every neighborhood. That is why Run for Her is bringing the fight to your community. For 2015, we are asking supporters to participate in a virtual event that will enable us to raise awareness around the globe.
All proceeds from Run for Her support the Cedars-Sinai Women’s Cancer Program at the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute.
We’re pleased to invite you to take part in our virtual event!
As a participant of this year’s virtual event, you’ll still register, create teams and fundraise for the cause. And we will provide you with resources to raise awareness in your home, in your community and online. Along the way, we invite you to share your story, connect with participants across the country and gain strength and inspiration.
How It Works
Step 1: Register as a participant or a team captain.
Set a fundraising goal, then create a fundraising page that tells your story – why you are participating and what gives you strength. Download posters and a “training” race bib to customize.
Step 2: Fundraise and recruit team members.
Our virtual event will culminate on Nov.15. Leading up to the event, you can send emails and post to social media encouraging friends, families, co-workers, sorority sisters and everyone you know to donate to your effort. We provide tools and incentives along the way.
All participants registered by Oct.25 will receive a T-shirt and commemorative race bib, to be mailed at the beginning of November.
Step 3: On Nov.15, go vocal, local and social.
Go vocal – As a participant, you will have the opportunity to share your personal connection to Run for Her. Why do you participate? Featured stories are highlighted on the Run for Her home page.
Go local – Don your 2015 Run for Her T-shirt, gather your friends and head out into your community. Set a personal goal with meaning. For example, if you are walking for your sister who is 42 years old, you might set your goal as 4.2 miles, or 42 minutes.
Go social – Post images of yourself in your 2015 Run for Her T-shirt to Twitter, Facebook and Instagram using #runforher. Include a brief fact that will help raise awareness about your story and the cause. People around the country will be doing the same thing, so throughout the day, you can check your social media feeds for inspiration.
