About the Pink Hair Dare

Q. I was told that the Pink Hair Dare challenge was moved to February of 2016. Is it still happening?

A. Yes, you can still participate in the Pink Hair Dare challenge. It is now part of a bigger event called the Wellspring Care Dare. To register, visit and you will be directed to the new website automatically.


Q. My school/business participated in The Pink Hair Dare last year and we would like to participate again. Who do I contact to book my event?

Q. Why did you change the name of the event from Pink Hair Dare to the Wellspring Care Dare?

A. The Pink Hair Dare has traditionally been hosted in October. We were unable to offer the program at its designated time, so the event was moved to February 2016. We also noted that many individuals, community groups and organizations had expressed a desire to support Wellspring, but felt the ‘pink’ aspect was too closely tied to breast cancer awareness and the pink hair limited their support options. Based on the feedback from the community, we have changed the event to The Wellspring Care Dare, in which those participating can choose how they wish to support the organization.


Q. Can I still go to a hair salon to get my pink hair extension?

A. Absolutely! To participate, register online at For a list of salons that are happy to put a pink extension in your hair, please email . You can also book an appointment to have your extension installed at Wellspring.


Q. I would like to organize a fundraising event for Wellspring, however I am not interested in doing Pink Hair. How else can I fundraise?

About the Wellspring Care Dare


Q. What is the Wellspring Care Dare?

A. The Wellspring Care Dare is a fun, interactive online fundraising campaign. Individuals, schools, businesses, clubs and other community groups can raise funds to help provide vital and free support, coping skills and restorative and practical programs for people living with cancer and their families. Participants register online, choose or create a unique dare, make a fundraising goal and when that goal is reached, carry out the dare. Participants reach out to family, friends and co-workers to support them in achieving their fundraising goal in order to perform their dare.


Q. When is the event happening?

A. The Wellspring Care Dare is taking place anytime from December, 2015 to March, 2016. You can register anytime in those months and begin your fundraising to reach your goal and then…do your dare! We have some groups preparing to kick-off their Wellspring Care Dare events on February 4th – World Cancer Day.



Q. How do I register to participate in the Wellspring Care Dare?

A. Registering is easy!

Step 1: Pick a Dare - Whether you take a tentative approach or you like to make a bold statement, choose a dare that fits your personality. TIP: The bigger the dare, the higher your fundraising goal should be! Check out our Tool Box for fun ideas and tips to get you started.

Step 2: TAKE THE DARE - Once you’ve picked a dare, register it online at and click on the Take the Dare button. Decide if you are creating a team or participating as an individual. Complete the registration process by setting up your personal fundraising page.


Step 3: SHARE – Set your fundraising goal and invite others to join you or sponsor you so you can reach your goal….and then…do your dare!

Remember to post your dare on social media, using the hastag #caredare and update your personal fundraising page with photos and videos. Post your videos to Youtube or send them to us at


Q. Is there a fee to participate?

A. There is no fee to participate but fundraising for Wellspring is an expectation of participating in the challenge.


Q. I don’t want to register online. Is there another way to participate?

A. If you don’t want to register online, you can participate in the Wellspring Care Dare by downloading a registration and pledge form here.



Q. How do I ask for donations?

A. Login into your personal fundraising page from Click on Email Friends, to start asking everyone you know to sponsor you. You may use a template email or create your own personal message.


Q. How do I get cash or cheque donations to show up on my personal fundraising page’s thermometer?

A. From your To Do List, click on Enter Cash/Cheque donations.


Q. What do I do with cash or cheques donations?

Option 1: Mailing In Your Cash and Cheque donations

Fill out all cash and cheque donations on a Pledge form. Please ensure the full address information for donors is included in order to issue a valid tax receipt.

All cheques made to: Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation

Please do not send cash payment through the mail. Please send a cashier’s check or money order for the cash portion of your collected pledges.

When mailing in your pledges, please include:

  1. Your Full Name and address

  2. Address the envelope – Attention: Wellspring Care Dare

  3. A completed copy of the pledge form

  4. Complete mailing address, name and dollar amount of all pledges for tax receipting purposes.

Option 2: Hand in your cash and cheque donations in person.

Fill out all cash and cheque donations on a Pledge form. Please ensure the full address information for donors is included in order to issue a valid tax receipt.

Note: Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $18.00 or above.

Drop off your pledge form and collected monies to the centre you would like to support.

Q. When will Wellspring send out tax receipts for donations?

A. If you donate online, you will receive an electronic tax receipt within 24 hours. Any donors who made cash or cheque donations will receive tax receipts within six months or by December 31st 2016.


Q. I have lost my original tax receipt and require a duplicate. What do I do?

A. Please email to receive a duplicate/correction to your tax receipt.


Q. I made an online donation and I cannot open my tax receipt. Why is this?

A. Electronic tax receipts are sent in a PDF format. If you currently do not have Adobe Reader on your computer, you will not be able to open the attachment. Download Adobe Reader: For a replacement tax receipt, request for reprint and/or correction, please email


Q. How long is the tax receipt valid?

A. According to CRA guidelines, you have up to 5 years from the date of issue to include this on your tax return.
