Hike for Hope +5k Teams

Hiking or walking with a team is the best way to raise the most money for HIV/AIDS.  And it's the most fun, too! 

Hike for Hope +5k Teams are simply groups of walkers consisting of 5 or more people.  Teams can represent companies, schools, organizations, communities, or even just a group of your friends and family.

Why should I form a team?

To Educate Others

Participating in the Hike for Hope +5k is a unique chance to educate others about HIV/AIDS.  We can provide your organization with speakers to talk about the Hike and the impact of AIDS on our communities.  Speakers can address your organization's team kickoff, monthly meeting, school assembly, or gathering.  Forming a team at your company, school, or organization helps to educate others that AIDS is still a serious threat and gives you and your teammates an opportunity to talk to others about the importance of education and prevention.

To Demonstrate Your Commitment

It is a powerful show of solidarity the day of Hike for Hope +5k to see banners representing businesses, congregations, schools, neighborhoods, and families all committed to raising funds for AIDS prevention, education, and direct care services.  Your team presence will demonstrate your organization's commitment to your community.  No one should feel alone in the fight against AIDS.

To Raise More Money

People who walk as part of a team raise more money.  Team members help to recruit additional walkers and encourage others to meet their fundraising goals.

To Have Fun!

Walking with a team is fun and helps make the 2- or 4- miles pass quickly.  A team can also be a great morale booster for your organization. 

How do I form a team?

As a Team Captain you will be the direct liaison between the Hike for Hope +5k Staff and your team. At the time of registration you should be prepared to name your team, set a team fundraising goal and a personal fundraising goal. Your first task will be to visit www.ALFAHikeForHope.org and select "Start a Team"; here you will establish yourself as the Team Captain. Once your team has been established, you may invite others to join the team. Our Teams are champions who help to make Hike for Hope +5k a success! Each team member must be registered individually.

Recruiting team members and asking for support
 >>Send an e-mail to everyone in your e-mail distribution list. Ask them to join your team, if
they cannot be a part of your team; ask for a donation to your team.

>>Ask your friends, co-workers, congregation, and affiliates from groups/ clubs to which you belong; ask those who own or operate the stores and restaurants that you frequent.

>>Become a Fan of Hike for Hope +5k's Facebook Fan Page spread news of events and opportunities to YOUR friends, asking them to support you in Hike for Hope +5k. http://www.facebook.com/pages/ALFA-Hike-for-Hope/202917177648. Include your personal event link in your status update from time to time.
