|Steve will be making 20 bowls for Prouty supporters!|
|This will be our 13th year riding THE PROUTY to raise money for cancer research and patient care at the Norris Cotton Cancer Center. We ride our bikes in memory of Ariel's grandparents, Sylvia Springhorn and Harold & Lois Silver, a close family friend, Lee Schiffer, and many other friends and family members, all of whom we have lost to cancer. We also ride to honor our many friends and family members who are fighting and have conquered this disease. |
On July 8th this year, health and weather permitting, we hope once again to ride the 50-mile route as part of our team: Friends of Lebanon Crew. Last year's Prouty was the first in 12 years that Ariel was unable to ride due to camp counselor obligations. His absence, along with a rainy day led Deb and Steve to ride the 20-mile route.
Regardless of weather conditions and how many miles we ride, The Prouty is ALWAYS an incredible feel good fundraising event. More than 6,000 bikers, walkers, rowers, golfers, and volunteers will be involved on July 7 & 8. The goal this year is to raise over $3.5 million!
Through the Friends of Norris Cotton Cancer Center and The Prouty, you support Cancer Center researchers and clinicians who are working on innovative ways to prevent, diagnose, treat and hopefully, one day, cure cancer. You also support important patient services that would otherwise not be funded.
All money raised helps to support cancer research and patient services at Norris Cotton Cancer Center, one of only 47 comprehensive cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute for excellence in cancer research, care and community outreach. Research conducted here informs patient treatment around the world.
Donating is easy. The Prouty website is secure for on line contributions, or you can write a check. To make a secure donation on line, go to The Prouty 2017 (www.theprouty.org). Click on “Sponsor Participant” and enter Deborah Springhorn, Stephen Silver, or Ariel Silver which will take you to our family page where you can make your secure donation. If you prefer, checks should be made out to “Friends of the Norris Cotton Cancer Center,” and mailed to our home address of 153 North Main Street, West Lebanon, NH 03784.
Our incredible local Byrne Foundation once again matched all donations, beyond our family registration fee, made during the month of April through May 15th. Twenty donors rose to the challenge and gave $100.00 or more by the May 15 deadline. Steve is making pottery ice cream bowls for these donors and we say THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED SO FAR TO OUR PERSONAL CAUSE TO COMBAT CANCER!
Also this year, as in previous years, Steve will provide his traditional thank you gift - a specially made piece of his pottery will be raffled after the Prouty has concluded. For every $50.00 contributed, your name will be put in a drawing for one of his hand-thrown bowls. The more you contribute, the better your chances are at getting a bowl!
Please help us fight cancer with a donation to this most important cause! Every little bit helps; it all adds up. Already we have raised $9,500 toward our goal of $10,000!
Thank you so much for your support!
Steve, Deb, & Ariel
