Please Support My Ride from Toronto to Austin, Texas!

Like so many, cancer has impacted our family.
My sister Mary Keogh recently lost her husband Wayne Sproul to oral cancer. Wayne was diagnosed during my own Stage 3 colorectal cancer challenge, thus further adding to our family’s emotional strain and wellbeing.
Mary had always been very supportive of me and my family’s journey, and now with two children, had her own battle to contend with. Mary learned of Wellspring during Wayne’s care and this proved instrumental in helping her and her children cope, and ultimately move on with their lives.
During my post treatment follow-up, we lost my first cousin’s son, Alex Pace, to osteosarcoma (bone cancer). Alex was, and continues to be, an inspiration to myself and many others. He never failed to show amazing courage and dignity throughout his illness; far beyond his tender age of 11 years.
Just before my first radiation and chemo treatments, I met a peer of my wife’s; Jeanette White. Jeanette had just lost her husband Gary to stomach cancer at 41 years young. Gary happened to also be Alex’s hockey coach. Gary and Jeanette had 2 beautiful young children and their lives ahead of them. I will never forget our meeting and the words of strength and encouragement she gave me. Jeanette also gained immeasurable support through Wellspring and found peaceful respite in their comforting space.
On behalf of the Keogh, Pace and White families, and the countless who need Wellspring’s vital services; I thank you for your help and continued support.
As a 5 year colorectal cancer survivor, I could not script a more positive way to pay forward all the good that has been provided to me, including my own personal Wellspring experience. I look forward to a little sweat en-route to Texas and my successful fundraising effort.
I dedicate this ride in memory of Wayne, Alex and Gary.

From October 11-20, 2013, I will be participating in an 8-day 24-hour relay ride from Toronto to Austin, Texas, in support of Wellspring Centres in the Greater Toronto Area. The ride funds more than 50 cancer support and coping skills programs that Wellspring provides, free of charge, to individual and families living with cancer.

Please help me reach my fundraising goal!
