Oh No! Mr. Diabetes® Postpones Planned 2,500 Mile Walk Due to Injury
On December 4, 2014 it came fast and from behind. Mr. Diabetes® was hit by an automobile while stopped at a signal light in his own car. He was taken from the scene of the accident by ambulance to the hospital for evaluation. Fortunately, his injuries were not life threatening, but they have been devastating to his plans to walk 2500 miles in ten central/southern states over the next year. He suffered injuries to his spinal column in the neck and lumbar regions and on the advice of his doctor's is suspending the walk while he undergoes treatment for his injuries.
It is particularly disappointing, because the latest statistics show his prevention message is still important and he was planning to "take it to the streets" in some of the states hardest hit by diabetes. But, he's also disappointed because it was to be a major fundraising effort to support new programs.
You could cheer him up while he's recovering with a donation to help us meet our fundraising goal!
