Paving a Path to Growth: How one Inner City 100 company positions itself for long-term growth

At the 2017 Inner City 100 Awards and Conference, ICIC and Staples presented a special award honoring one business’s outstanding achievement in revenue growth. Clason Point Partners was the 2017 recipient of the Staples Business Growth Award, which recognizes the #1 business on the Inner City 100 list. In February, ICIC and Staples hosted a workshop in New York City which explored in more depth how CPP manages such impressive growth, and what their plans are for the future. Read more.

  • ICIC Contributes Insights to New Orleans Entrepreneur Week ; ICIC was proud to participate in the 2018 New Orleans Entrepreneur Week presented by JPMorgan Chase, the 10th annual celebration of entrepreneurship, innovation and local businesses, which coincided with New Orleans’ ongoing tercentenary festivities. On March 19, ICIC Senior Vice President and Director of Research Kim Zeuli took part in a panel discussion on Economic Inclusion & Capital Strategies for Small Businesses. The panel focused on strategies that can generate greater equity through targeted capital access strategies. On the panel, Kim shared lessons learned from ICIC’s 20+ years of research and practice focused on inner city business growth, as well as ICIC’s ongoing role as a research and evaluation partner on JPMorgan Chase’s Small Business Forward Initiative. Learn more.
  • ICCC Hosts Kick-off Breakfasts in Boston and Chicago: On March 29th in Chicago and April 5th in Boston, Inner City Capital Connections held their program's kick-off breakfasts. Both events saw an audience of local business leaders, who were eager to learn more about the program's outcomes and impacts, and understand more about the ICCC nominating process. In Chicago, Ken Williams of The Shred Authority shared how his experience with the program guided him towards raising nearly $2.5 million in capital. In Boston, Kathi Turner of Turner's Seafood excitedly described how the strategic coaching she received helped her reestablish her 100-year-old family company as an innovative small business with modern resiliency.   • ICIC Connects with Women Business Owners & Supplier Diversity Leaders at WBENC’s Summit & Salute Thanks to the support of our partner and sponsor, Chevron, members from the ICIC team attended the Summit and Salute in Dallas on March 20-22. ICIC took part in the discussion about how large corporations can diversify their supply chains through partnerships with women-owned businesses. ICIC team members spoke with both supplier diversity professionals from large corporations and women business owners about the ways in which ICIC works to create opportunities for minority- and women-owned businesses in cities across the country.
