The California State University is facing an unprecedented 20% (or $584 million) budget cut which has forced the Board of Trustees and Chancellor Reed to take action to address this severe drop in state support.
It is a difficult time resulting in extremely difficult reductions for our students, faculty and staff as we struggle to fill a staggering budget gap of $13.5 million at CSU Bakersfield. The CSU and CSUB's budget plan includes:
- implementing furloughs - mandatory days off without pay - to reduce salary expenses
- increasing undergraduate student fees by $224 per quarter
- curtailing enrollment systemwide beginning with winter quarter 2010
- reducing our departmental budgets almost $5 million.
Please take a moment to view the details of the budget reductions and stay informed by visiting the CSU Budget Central website for CSU-wide plans, as well as CSUB's Budget Central.
