Animal Protection Groups and the vast majority of Canadians oppose Bill S-203.

• S-203 allows animal abusers to walk free¹
• S-203 allows cruelty to wildlife, stray and feral animals²
• S-203 allows crimes of neglect to go virtually unpunished³
  
• S-203 allows the cruel reality of breeding and training of dogs for dog fighting⁴.

Despite the strong message Canadians have delivered to our MPs for the past nine years, our calls for effective legislation are largely going unheard.

A vote for S-203 is a vote for animal cruelty. Did your MP represent you?

¹ Less than ¼ of 1% of animal cruelty complaints lead to a conviction.
² Cruelty crimes are maintained in the property section leaving “un-owned” animals such as wildlife and strays virtually unprotected.
³ Due to the outdated phrase “willful” neglect the courts are required to prove that neglect is an intentional act.
⁴ Ex-NFL star Michael Vick would likely not be convicted under S-203. There are no provisions in the Criminal Code to criminalize the breeding or training of animals to fight each other or to profit from animal fighting.
