Raising $1 million through a single event is an incredible accomplishment. Repeating that success for a second year in a row is extraordinary.
The generous team at Dunkin’ Donuts Northeast Distribution Center and franchisees throughout New England have done it again. The 9th Annual Dunkin’ Donuts/George Mandell Memorial Golf Tournament, held on Aug. 14 at The International in Bolton, Mass., raised more than $1 million for the Rising Stars Program at Dana-Farber.
Since its inception in 1998, the Rising Stars program, funded by Dunkin' Donuts franchisees in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, Vermont, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire has provided more than $5 million in research funding to talented young scientists at Dana-Farber studying some of the most vexing types of cancer.
“Giving these rising stars more resources allows them to bring their research to its maximum potential in a shorter period of time," says James Griffin, MD, chair of Medical Oncology and director of the program. "We are ever grateful to the Dunkin' Donuts franchise owners for establishing this fund and continuing to support it through the years."
