The Jimmy Fund Classic Celebrates with Red Carpet Style its 24th Year
Jimmy Fund Golf sponsors, tournament directors, and friends were treated like stars at the Hollywood-themed Jimmy Fund Classic on Sept. 10 and 11. The International in Bolton, Mass., hosted the Classic, Jimmy Fund Golf’s thank you for making 2006 another record-breaking year. Read more.

Meet Linda Buckland-Morando and Maureen Higgins, co-directors of the 9th Annual Chip In for Cancer Golf Classic. The tournament, held on Sept. 21 at Granite Links Golf Club, raised more than $40,000 for the Women’s Cancers Program at Dana-Farber bringing their cumulative total to more than $550,000. Jimmy Fund Golf is comprised of more than 150 annual events. Each is unique and integral to the success of the program. Here are highlights from just a few recent events that are a part of the Jimmy Fund Golf family. Share your story.

The Maribeth Merrigan Foundation Golf Tournament was held on Sept. 5 at the Brae Burn Country Club in Newton, Mass., and raised more than $75,000 for Dana-Farber. The Maribeth Merrigan Foundation is a charitable organization founded by the Merrigan family in memory of Maribeth who died from a rare form of cancer at the age of 24. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Maribeth Merrigan Patient Assistance Fund whose mission is to further compassionate patient care and ensure the continuation of funding to help patients at Dana-Farber in need of financial assistance.
Tee Time for the Tiger’s inaugural event was held on Sept. 15 at the South Shore Country Club in Hingham, Mass., and raised $30,000, which was double their goal. The tournament was organized by Maureen, Trysha, Michael, Teddy, and Karen Ahern as their way to help their father Edward as he battles esophageal cancer. 144 golfers enjoyed a great round of golf followed by dinner and evening entertainment provided by Skip Toomey and Company.
Another inaugural event, The Stockbridge Jimmy Fund Invitational, was held at the Stockbridge Country Club in Stockbridge, Mass. on Monday Sept. 18. and raised $27,000 for Dana-Farber. Andrew Cohen, president of the Western Massachusetts Jimmy Fund Council and Chief Rick Wilcox of the Stockbridge Police Department served as co-chairs of the event. After a day on the links, participants enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and a speaking program featuring Jimmy Fund Chairman Mike Andrews and John Coster, a tournament committee member and Dana-Farber patient.
