The International POST-SEASON GOLF TIPS
By Chris Kasheta, Head Golf Professional at The International

At this time of the year, any golf being played here in the Northeast should be considered a bonus. Unpredictable weather and shorter days diminish our chances of getting on the links. Now is the perfect time to begin preparing for the 2007 golf season.

First, I would recommend that you analyze your play this past season. Focus on the good results you had, and try to determine what worked and why. How was your state of mind? Were you at your physical peak? Did you change your equipment: woods, irons or putter? Did a particular golf course set up in your favor? Examining these aspects of your game will be useful in planning for the spring.

Of particular importance is your physical state. Most everyone is busy with family and career. Often physical fitness routines can get pushed to the wayside, especially as the winter approaches. I strongly advise that you establish a regular exercise schedule to maintain top shape in the off-season. Being physically fit will pay dividends, not only to your golf game, but also every other part of your life. Stretching and cardio work will increase your flexibility, improve your clubhead speed, and give you more distance off the tee. Staying in shape will also improve your mental focus. Being mentally sharp will lower your scores.

I’ve enjoyed contributing to the Jimmy Fund Golf e-newsletter this season and look forward to being back on the course in the spring as I'm sure you do as well.
