The Golf Ball, a black-tie gala featuring a "links-themed" menu, was held on March 10 at the Ballroom Veronique in Brookline, Mass. Hosted by Mike Strong, director of the Par Fore a Cure Golf Classic, the gala raised $20,000 in support of brain cancer research being conducted at Dana-Farber. 250 attendees enjoyed cocktails, dinner, and a speaking program emceed by Liz Brunner of WCVB NewsCenter 5.
Strong has run the Par Fore the Cure Golf Classic since 2000. The 2006 double-shotgun event will be held at the Apple Hill Golf Club and Kingston Fairways in Kingston, N.H. on June 17 followed by a clambake. For more information visit Par Fore the Cure Golf Classic.

Frank Strauss, Chairman of Mutual Funds Against Cancer, hosted the second annual “Expect Miracles” International Wine Extravaganza on Nov. 16, 2005 at the luxurious State Room in Boston. The event raised more than $20,000 for Dana-Farber. More than 250 business and financial executives enjoyed fine wines from 10 countries along with an art gallery viewing and a silent auction. Mutual Funds Against Cancer (“MFAC”) is one of the leading advocates in the fight against cancer within the mutual fund and financial industries. Founded by Strauss in 1995, MFAC’s mission is to proactively help fight cancer by raising funds and awareness through event-based programs and charitable donations.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation to John Dennis of MFAC’s “Expect Miracles” Lifetime Achievement Award by Strauss and Jimmy Fund Chairman Mike Andrews. Dennis, co-host of WEEI’s "Dennis and Callahan Show," was honored for his years of commitment to MFAC and the fight against cancer.
Strauss, with the help of his board of directors, has run the Mutual Funds Against Cancer Expect Miracles Golf Classic for the past 12 years and expects to reach the $1 million milestone in cumulative fundraising this year.
