PGA professional Bob Beach combines his passion for golf instruction with his desire to make a difference in the lives of children.

As a native of Watertown, Mass., and a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan, Bob Beach was always aware of the Jimmy Fund. When he became an assistant golf pro at Braintree Municipal in 1976, he found a way to become involved. “More than 30 years ago, Bill Koster, the first chairman of the Jimmy Fund, said something that has always stuck with me,” recalls Beach. “He said ‘cancer’ and ‘children’ are two words that should never be used together. I couldn’t agree more. I’m happy to do what I can to help.”
Beach, who was voted NEPGA Teacher of the Year in 2005, conducts two four-week sessions for children ages 7 to 14. The cost is $40 for each session, and all proceeds are directed to the Jimmy Fund. As golf has become more popular with kids, especially after the Tiger Woods phenomenon, the golf clinics have grown. Beach’s fundraising has steadily increased over the 29 years he has been running the clinics.
Beach also volunteers his time at the annual Jimmy Fund Clinic Field Day, a summer party thrown for young Jimmy Fund Clinic patients, families, and friends.
