PURPOSE: The purpose of the Alzheimer's Association's Caregiver training series is to educate professional and family caregivers on Alzheimer's disease and give useful information concerning dementia care.
After completing the training the participant should have:
- A better understanding of the disease, its process, and available teatments
- Practical tips for caring for the individual with dementia.
- Insight into maintaining a healthy spiritual life
REGISTRATION: Advanced registration is required and seating is limited. The fee includes materials, refreshments and lunch. In order to better accomodate conference attendees, registration will be accepted by mail, phone, fax or online. Registration fees are due at the time of registration.
KEY NOTE SPEAKER: Monica Vest Wheeler, Author
Monica Vest Wheeler is an author and speaker, best known for her work on the Help ME Cope & Survive! book series. Monica’s warm and engaging speaking style is helping to bridge the silence that is so pervasive for those dealing with disease, loss and crisis.The former newspaper reporter and editor has written books, including Alzheimer’s Dementia & Memory Loss: Straight Talk for Families and Caregivers, that focus on human relationships, personalities and history.
Soon to be released are separate books on coping with brain injuries, strokes, and brain tumors-brain cancer through her company, “Turning Empathy into Action.” She lives in Peoria, Illinois with her husband, Roger (and two cats). They have a son, Gordo.
