Event Speakers:
Steven Devor, Ph.D.
Ohio State University Professor
Dr. Devor works with two local independent living facilities in Columbus, Friendship Village of Columbus and Westminster Thurber Community. He serves as the Director of their Wellness, Physical Activity, and Exercise Centers, and his doctoral students manage the comprehensive fitness evaluations and exercise program design.
Dr. Devor, who is the advisor to the Exercise Science Club, teaches undergraduate courses in Exercise Physiology, supervises Practicum courses in Body Composition, Strength and Conditioning, and Fitness Evaluation, and supervises internships. At the graduate level Dr. Devor teaches a doctoral seminar focused on skeletal muscle structure, function, and plasticity, co-teaches the M.A. Exercise Physiology course, and supervises practical experiences and internships. He has also served as a consultant to the Columbus Blue Jackets, Commit to be Fit and Men’s Health magazine.

Stephen Douglas, Ph.D.
Psychologist
Dr. Douglas earned a bachelor’s degree, two master’s degrees and a doctorate from the Ohio State University. He served as an infantry officer in the United States Army in Vietnam. Dr. Douglas has been a teacher at the high school and college level. Since 1973, he has served as a mental health consultant and practitioner. He is married to Dr. Ellen Kay Douglas, also a psychologist, and they have two sons. Dr. Douglas is a special consultant to several law enforcement agencies throughout Ohio and has an active psychological practice in Columbus. Additionally, he speaks throughout the country to over 150 groups a year.
The event will also feature a health fair with exhibitors from local organizations with resources for people with arthritis.
